Playing the MOD Board Game

Based on elements of popular board games like Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit, teams compete to be the first to get all of the tools in the BCM arsenal. The tools represent business continuity necessities, such as a backup generator, recovery plan, and safety equipment. Teams are allotted a budget at game start and earn money as they correctly answer risk and continuity-related questions on each turn. Chance cards throw "incidents" their way, and if a team lacks the correct tool to mitigate the incident, they lose money. By the end of the game, players have learned about resource allocation, risk mitigation solutions, making investment decisions, and the importance of contingency planning—as well as a few surprising facts that will make them rethink their perception of risk.
